Samba Music is the most common in Brazil. Percussion instruments, such as the drums are the main instruments used. Usually the music contains repeated rhythm patterns, also known as ostinatos.
The class will respond to the Samba Music and using a variety of percussion instruments the children will experiment with different sounds and compose their own piece of Samba Music
Music - Listening and Responding
Capoeira is a Brazilian Dance/ Martial Art. It usually involves two people who perform a number of spinning kicks and handstands and cartwheels etc. The dance is non-contact. Both dancers must be very athletic to perform the dance.

The children can learn or make up their own Capoeira dances. This activity can be done in pairs or small groups. The dances can be set to contemporary or Samba Music
